Dr. Lau, a native of Los Angeles, earned his BA in Biology from California
State University Fullerton and an MBA from University of California Irvine.
He completed his doctorate studies at the University of Missouri School of
Optometry, and attended externships at the Veteran’s Hospital in Kansas and
the Kalihi/Palama Health Clinic here in Hawaii.
After graduating, Dr. Lau moved to Hawaii to be closer to his family roots.
He joined his cousin and partner, Dr. Au as part of the LensCrafters team in
1989 and won the LensCrafters Nationwide Office of the Year for 2000.
Currently Dr Lau is also a clinical researcher for FDA research trials as
well as a medical device consultant working with companies such as Alcon,
Bausch + Lomb, Vistakon and NeoVista.
Dr. Lau has also taken special interest in volunteering for the One Sight
Program by providing eye care in countries such as Albania, Benin, China,
Laos, Mexico, and Peru. He is a member of the Hawaii Optometric Organization
and is also a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry.
An active member of the Hawaii community, Dr. Lau served as a volunteer
advisor for the Junior Achievement Program at Pearl City High School as well
as a member of the local Junior Achievement board.
Dr. Lau resides in Kaimuki and enjoys spending time with his son; and his
daughter, who lives in San Jose. In his free time, he enjoys swimming,
golfing, and cycling; and is conversational in Japanese and Spanish.
